Homesteads Ltd incorporating William Carter's Estates
Homesteads Limited was founded by William Carter, in 1903, to continue and expand his business of residential property development, in the course of which many housing estates were created, across southern England, providing people an opportunity to purchase property outside of the densely populated metropolises of the time. As a result of this activity, numerous parcels of residual land, such as unadopted estate roads and verges, remain vested in the company, which also has the benefit of restrictive covenants imposed on the individual properties when they were sold. The purpose of this website is to explain the company’s position in relation to various issues which may arise from time-to-time, especially in relation to rights of way and restrictive covenants, and to guide those who wish to explore any such issues with the company. We at Homesteads Limited retain the positive ethos of our founder, and, subject to compliance with the criteria set out in the following sections of this website, will, generally, be prepared to facilitate reasonable proposals for development which require the consent or action of the company.
